Terms of Use

This is an English translation of the Japanese Terms of Use. If the two versions differ, the Japanese version prevails.

These terms apply to your use of the iOS app CROON (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to these terms.

1. What the App does

The App uses AI to listen to the audio playing on your iPhone and turns it into speech and subtitles in your language. The dubbed speech may be made to resemble the original speaker’s voice. All dubbing, subtitles and answers are generated by AI.

2. Your responsibilities

• Use the App only with content you have the right to watch or listen to
• Use what the App produces, including dubbing and voices that resemble a speaker, only for your own viewing and understanding. Do not publish, distribute or sell it, or use it to impersonate or mislead anyone
• Rights in the original content and in speakers’ voices belong to their owners and to the speakers themselves. The App does not give you any right to use them. You are responsible for resolving any problem that arises from using the App in a way that breaks the law, a platform’s terms or anyone’s rights

3. About AI output

Dubbing, subtitles and answers may contain mistakes, omissions, delays or interruptions. Do not rely on the App alone for important decisions, such as medical, legal or financial ones.

4. Account

You need to sign in to use the App. You can delete your account in the App at any time.

5. Pricing and subscriptions

• You can use the App for free within a monthly free allowance. The free allowance and plan details are shown in the App
• Paid plans are App Store auto-renewing subscriptions. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, your subscription renews automatically for the same period and is charged to your Apple Account
• You can cancel or change your plan under Subscriptions in your Apple Account settings on your iPhone. After you cancel, you can keep using the plan until the end of the period you paid for
• Payments and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms
• Prices, the free allowance and plan details may change

6. Prohibited conduct

• Using the App in a way that breaks the law or infringes anyone’s rights
• Unauthorized access to the App or our servers, placing excessive load on them, or reverse engineering or modifying the App
• Offering the App’s features as another service

If you do any of these, we may suspend your use of the App without notice.

7. Changes to the App

The App’s features may be changed, suspended or discontinued.

8. Limitation of liability

We do not guarantee that the App will suit your purposes or run without errors or interruptions. Where we are liable for damage arising from your use of the App, except in cases of our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the month the damage occurred.

9. Your data

The data the App collects and how it is handled are described in the Privacy Policy.

10. If you got the App from the App Store

If you got the App from the App Store, Apple’s Standard License Agreement also applies in addition to these terms. We, not Apple, are responsible for the App.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will announce the changes and the date they take effect on this page and in the App.

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. The district court with jurisdiction over our location has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance over any dispute about the App.
